ABSTRACT ALBA is a giant microscope, that will be formally open in 2010, Cerdanyola del Vallés, Barcelona. It has a cost of 201 millions of Euros and it belongs to the third generation of synchrotrons. Thermal stability is guarantied by not going beyond 0.5ºC. The light is produced by intensive electrons up to ultra relative speeds. ALBA will be able to get more than 30 independent light lines for experimentation. Each line characteristic is defined by different variables; font’s nature (a bending magnet) and the optic (focus, chromatist, energetic level). ALBA´s light is polarized by different states: lineal polarization horizontal or vertical type, circular and intermediate geometric. The generated light will allow precise observations upon atomic and molecular structures. It will also improve pure and applied science in the molecular biology branch (protein and virus structure). Key words: synchrotron light, wiggler, undulators, mono-chromaticity.
