In this article, the author is going to present the results of a large research project related to the air wastes within the iron foundries melting shops. It was decided to analyze the raw emissions, in other words, emissions produced behind the fabric filters, in order to assure that obtained data could complete the low quality databases of the foundry sector. After samplings, the captured particles were analyzed and, as long as possible, related to raw materials and processes (the most common ones). Finally, different and standardized emission factors will be proposed, justifying their usefulness.Additionally, these data have to provide the foundry managers good strategies when new melting facilities and investments were necessarily required regarding both aspects, the best adaptation to the final product but taking also into account environmental issues. Manufacturers of fabric filters and their designers will find up in the results of this project the sufficient information for developing new devices minimizing the most critic particle fractions, where metals are present.
