The introduction of smart electric meters provides a huge amount of information that, in addition to the power companies, can be used by users to reduce their bills. Analyzes made so far focus on the case of an electrical company or, at most, the impact of the treatment of this information on the national economy. The present work develops an original method for the calculation of the cost-benefit analysis orientated to the end user.They are presented as potential sources of savings choosing hourly rate discrimination and contracted power. It has been applied to a sample of more than one thousand users, obtaining average savings around € 100 per year, with no need to change consumer habits.Keywords: Big data, Electric tariff, Saving, Cost-Benefit Analysis, New technologies, Smart meters
