Over the last years a new competitive trend has been developing in the industrial context. The structure and strength within the inter-enterprise relationships are reaching an increasing interest in the business environment. As a result, the concept of non-hierarchical collaborative manufacturing networks (NHN) has emerged. Unlike hierarchical manufacturing networks (HN), based on centralized models where most of the enterprises involved must adapt to the constraints defined by a minority of dominant firms, in the non-hierarchical networks (NHN) all the partners are involved in the joint management of processes in a collaborative and decentralized way; improving the commitment of each node with regards the general objectives of the network, taking into account the objectives of all partners and considering all network members alike.
