ABSTRACTThe evolution of material technology for electric insulation purposes has been the basis for developing new silicon and elastomeric components that offer higher stability concerning dielectric properties. The integration of these components in medium voltage switchgears enables more ecological and safer cubicles to be developed offering flexibility of operation and increasing continuity of service. Ageing type tests confirm the stability of the isolating devices and thus, the long electrical endurance of the MV switchgear. Key words: Main HV/MV substation, medium voltage switchgear, r outine and type tests, a geing of isolating materials.
