ABSTRACT: Recent studies analyze the management factor influence on the particularly complex relationship puzzle of occupational safety culture. This article provides a review of the advances produced in this emerging and evolving field of research. Unresolved and outstanding questions are identified, such as our understanding about how leadership style influences the safety behavior; the controversy concerning the effectiveness of safety economic incentives or the still scant evidence on the interaction among safety culture and the objectives or policies in other organizational areas. As a conclusion, an analytical framework is proposed that integrates the management factor in a broader safety culture model, allowing to set-up new research objectives and hypothesis concerning the factors that moderate or determine the influence of safety culture on the employee`s behavior. Keywords: Safety culture, transformational leadership, safety incentives
