ABSTRACTJosé Tartiére Lenegre was born in 1846, he graduated as an Industrial Engineer in the Industrial School of Barcelona in 1875 and he died in 1927. His long life was a continuous exercise to develop his passion for creating enterprises in such different sectors as metallic mining, coal, steel, explosives, gas, water, electricity, banking, railways, ship-ownership, aircrafts, etc. He established or participated in the creation of nearly fifty enterprises, ainly in Asturias, but in other Spanish regions too, in several cases with promoters from Vizcaya, as he had always maintained strong links with them. He was probably the most important man in Asturias after Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos.Key words: Enterprises generation, promotion, enterprise point of view.
