RESUMEN
La creación de un autómata inteligente es un sueño probablemente tan antiguo como la Humanidad. Convertirlo en realidad es el fin para el cual trabajan los investigadores en el campo de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA). La visión por ordenador, o visión artificial, es un campo nuevo que se desarrolla a gran velocidad; los primeros experimentos se llevaron a cabo a finales de los 50 y muchos de los conceptos se han desarrollado durante los últimos 5-10 años. La visión por ordenador puede considerarse una faceta más de la lA, siendo importante el conocimiento de las técnicas de la IA para poder entender el campo de la visión. Este artículo pretende solamente considerar los conceptos básicos de la visión artificial.

ABSTRACT
The dream of intelligent automata goes back to antiquity. This dream has been pursued primarily by workers in the field of Artificial Intelligence (lA). Computer Vision is a relatively new field that is growing very fast. The first experiments took place in the late 1950s, and many of the essential concepts Nave been developed during the last 10 years. Computer Vision could be considered as a part of Al, therefore, Al techniques should be studied to fully understand it. This paper was written to introduce the basic concepts of Computer Vision.
