Global installed capacity of renewable energy has experienced a higher increase in recent years, especially wind power. It is expected that this trend will continue.Large amounts of wind power can be introduced in continental power systems. However, in small isolated power systems, such as those in islands, penetration of wind power can show some problems. These problems are related to the characteristics of the small isolated power systems and those related to the wind power. An example of this is the variability of the power generated by wind turbines.
