ABSTRACTGenerally, improving the quality and price of products, obtaining the total satisfaction of the clients or reaching the excellence in all processes are some of the challenges that set up any company at present. For this reason, to know the reliability of some components is necessary. With this objective, an investigation becomes necessary in order to contribute with clarity of ideas and to propose a methodology for the estimation of the parameters that take part in the calculation of reliability. A parameter very related to the concept is the probability of failure of the product through operating time. It is known that the mechanical components fail by fluency, fatigue, wear, corrosion, etc. The present article proposes a methodology to find out the reliability of a piece put under wearing down, such as brake pads, sandpaper, linings of a clutch disc, etc. KEY WORDS: Testing life, Wear, Reliability, Failure.
