ABSTRACTThis work presents the methodology for the identification of events or potentially dangerous situations in road traffi c, using a vehicle type fitted with conventional electronic devices. This development represents the basis of the design, development, construction and testing of an intelligent system of transport (ITS) to monitor a road network in order to identify and locate accurately points roads where situations arise that can be potentially dangerous driving and that, therefore, may have as a consequence an accident. On board system consists of a hardware which includes a mobile terminal BlackBerry from the manufacturer RIM (Research In Motion), equipped with GPS and internal accelerometer and possibility to connect bluetooth and wireless interfaces for reading and transmission of data from the vehicle CAN-bus.KEY WORDS: Intelligent Transport System (ITS), CAN-bus, road network, sensed vehicle.
