In 1845, the young José de Vilallonga, the son of the owner of a Catalan farga in the region of Figueres who bought the iron ore from the commercial enterprise of the Vizcaya Ybarra family, arrives in Bilbao from his father for his first contact with The suppliers and at a time when the industrialization projects of the until then handcrafted steel production of ironworks and fargas began.
