ABSTRACT In this work, the characterization of nanoclay-epoxy composites, using two types of epoxy resin, was done. The effects of type of resin and nanoclay content were evaluated on the permeability properties, glass transition temperature and thermal stability. It was also applied a thermal treatment at extreme temperatures to the samples. Its effect was evaluated on the properties of the nanocomposites. Experimental design techniques were used, introducing an original methodology that allows for a simultaneous study of discrete and continuous factors. Keywords: Nanoclay, epoxy, experimental design, permeability.
