ABSTRACT Santa María de Garoña nuclear power plant, in collaboration with Burgos University, has proceeded to conduct a pilot project aimed at seeing the possibilities for the RADAR (Results, Approach, Deployment, Assessment and Review) logic of EFQM model, as a tool for self evaluation of Safety Culture in a nuclear power plant. In the work it has sought evidences of Safety Culture implanted in the plant, and identify strengths and areas for improvement regarding this Culture. The score obtained by analyzing these strengths and areas for improvement has served to prioritize actions implemented. The nuclear power plant has been submitted voluntarily to the mission SCART (Safety Culture Assessment Review Team), an international review being done for the first time in the world at a plant in operation and the team of experts led by International Agency of Atomic Energy (IAEA) has identified this project as a good practice, an innovative process implemented in the plant, that must be transmitted to other plants. Key words: EFQM Model, RADAR logic, safety culture, nuclear power plant, assessment.
