This study introduces an analysis of the current remote labs for digital electronics. Based on the analysis results, the paper describes an open source remote lab developed by the authors to perform remote digital electronics practices. This remote lab has been implemented with the CY8CKIT-042 PSoC®4 kit. The remote lab based on this low-cost Cypress device is suitable for its use in educational institutions as a first step to get the students familiar with the kit without the need of having to acquire it. The remote lab is designed as open source, so that other researchers can use it and modify it. This is the first open source remote lab for digital electronics. As main features, the remote lab implements scheduling and authentication services and camera webstreaming. It also saves the student activity and performance to develop learning analytics.
