ABSTRACT The answer to the new challenges can not be a mechanistic repetition of the ways of doing in the past. It´s required a different way of thinking and understanding about how organizing human activities. The central focus of this thinking must be the admission that people and their patterns of connection are the main protagonists of the organizational development. And people are intelligent, creative and adaptative when they have a sense of identity. So, the deep beliefs about how organizations work should change to create places of self organization instead of places of control and fear. Key words: Leadership, people, organization, change.
