A Visual Basic-based code was developed to predict the hardness of Zn-Al-Cu alloys from their chemical composition to obtain the minimum alloying cost, and was applied on five zinc-based commercial alloys (No. 2, No. 5, No. 13, ZA8 and ZA12) to test the code's effectiveness. This program can be in utilized other alloy whereas is used the same method or in alloys whose hardness increase linearly with respect to one of its constituent elements, and any cast maker can use it to reduce the alloying cost based on the raw materials prices.
