ABSTRACT: The technique of Infrared Thermography has been object of a great development in recent years, basically by its diversity of fields of application in engineering and industry. Given the multidisciplinarity of this technique, every engineer will probably have to use infrared thermography at some point of their career . The infrared capturing process is based on the radiation heat transfer phenomena; for this reason the knowledge about the different parameters and correction factors involved in the process and the information about the data processing techniques presents enormous importance for engineering. Similarly, it is also important to know the different criteria for the classification of the thermographic technique and methods: active vs passive thermography and quantitative vs qualitative thermography. Keywords: Infrared thermography (IRT). Active thermography, nondestructive testing (NDT), thermal image, heating source, image processing.
