ABSTRACT:
Wear is part of the production processes, since the parts suffer the effects of abrasive particles. The use of welding for hardfacing offers unique advantages to face this. The objective is to establish the influence of the position of the alloy charge C-Cr-Mn, in the coating of electrodes intended for harfacing, on the resistance to abrasive wear. For this, three types of electrodes were manufactured with the same chemical composition for the metallic core and the alloy charge, the difference is in the position occupied by the alloy charge within the coating. A completely randomized design is used. The behavior of the wear resistance is evaluated; complementing with chemical analysis, hardness tests and microstructural study. As a conclusion is stablished that the influence of the position of the alloy charge within the coating structure on the wear resistance of the deposits is high. Mass loss is 50% less than the other variants.
Key Words: Wear resistance, position of alloy charge, hardfacing by welding
