THE HIDDEN PROBLEM BEHIND THE PROLIFERATION OF OFFSHORE WIND TURBINES In this section of DYNA, we have frequently reported on the efforts being made to find appropriate recycling for the blades removed from operating wind turbines (see https://www.revistadyna.com/noticias-de-ingenieria/el-primer-alabe-totalmente-reciclable-de-aerogenerador), although the results so far have not been encouraging: thousands of them are already piling up in landfills with no specific destination.

THE ETERNAL RETURN OF THE HYPERLOOP More than ten years have passed since the visionary Elon Musk published his proposal for the much talked about tubular transport which, apart from having already had centuries of tests and experiences, had only consolidated itself as a modest means of movement for documents and/or parcels that other more modern means had ended up condemning to oblivion.

COP28 IN DUBAI IN A GLOBAL SITUATION OF WAR AND SCEPTICISM The winds are not blowing in the best direction for tackling the ever greater challenges posed by the serious global situation of climate change: if the previous COP27 in Cairo reached a final decision document "in extremis" that has remained in a situation of executive "impasse", it is uncertain what COP28 will bring in a world already affected by the war in Ukraine, now shaken by the Palestinian-Israeli clashes and globally tense due to international relations of a technical-economic nature.

ARTIFICIAL WOMBS FOR THE SURVIVAL OF EXTREMELY PREMATURE BIRTHS The technology for so-called "artificial wombs", i.e. enclosures where extremely premature births can be placed and continue their development under foetal conditions, has been in development for a decade

PRODUCTION OF GRAPHENE AND HYDROGEN FROM PLASTIC WASTE Exactly 3 years ago, a paper entitled "Microwave-initiated catalytic deconstruction of plastic waste into hydrogen and high-value carbons" was published in Nature Catalysis, showing how a mixture of shredded plastics containing aluminium and iron oxides as catalysts was able to reach very high temperatures and produce hydrogen and carbon nanotubes by means of a high-power microwave treatment.

THE EVENTFUL LIFE OF BITCOIN Although there are currently many so-called "cryptocurrencies" and even with higher assets, there is no doubt that its initiator, symbol and paradigm, not only as a virtual currency, but also of the accompanying information technology (blockchain), is the so-called BITCOIN. The short text "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" written by the unknown author(s) hiding under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, set the tone for the launch of a virtual currency aimed at revolutionising the global monetary system in 2008.

TOWARDS A EUROPEAN LAW ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE Given the position of many European groups on the need to regulate the use and application of Artificial Intelligence systems in Europe (see DYNA News, https://www.revistadyna.com/noticias-de-ingenieria/suspension-temporal-del-desarrollo-de-inteligencia-artificial), the Community has warned that it has been considering this problem since 2019 and defining the lines of action to promote a law in its field of competence.
