Abstract
The article proposes a change management model for higher education institutions (HEI), based on research and comparative analysis of different change management models presented in the literature, as well as on a case study of a Chilean HEI. Through an experimental analysis of focused group interviews with academics from the engineering faculty of the Universidad del Bío-Bío, the article seeks to represent the perspective on the factors that interfere with change in a HEI. The proposed model consists of three stages and eight integrated variables presented in the literature on change management, which will allow HEIs to develop internal changes through a continuous and modernized methodology. The article highlights the importance of a change management model to help HEIs adapt to a changing and competitive environment.

Keyword: Change management, Higher Education, organizational change, management, model.
