ABSTRACT:
The work and family stress is a serious health hazard and can generate several major symptoms that will deteriorate the physical and mental health of people and will adversely affect the living conditions of the same. There are different symptoms of stress such as fatigue, headaches, cardiovascular diseases, states of depression and anxiety, among others, who will be directly related to the variable stress. This study focuses on empirically calculate the odds of having high levels of stress in people, considering the symptoms that most affect this variable stress.
This European study used data collected in the fifth European Working Conditions Survey (EWCS V) held in 2010 whose data have been obtained in 2012, surveying nearly 44,000 people from 34 countries of the European Union and answering more than 100 questions in different areas related to work and family. Given this, it has built a probabilistic model using Bayesian networks to explain the relationship between the variable under study, stress, and symptoms. This model explains what the most influential symptoms are likely to suffer high levels of stress considering all the data of the European poll.
The results show the importance of some variables or related stress both at work and at home symptoms. The study provides a new methodology that studies and quantifies likely to suffer stress regarding their generators symptoms. This study has sought to demonstrate various previous studies empirically speaking subjectively various stress-related symptoms without a probabilistically quantify these values.

Keywords: Working conditions, stress levels, family responsibilities, physical symptoms, fifth European survey.
