ABSTRACT: This research analyzes accident rates in Spain following the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, it studies the relationship between workplace accidents in Spain and temporal variables, such as the month, day of the week, or time of day in the period 2021-2022, to identify whether there have been any changes in trends following the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, data reported by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy has been analyzed and classified according to severity as minor, serious, very serious, or fatal. The influence of four temporal variables on the accident rate and severity is studied. The results show a significant relationship between the severity of the accident and the temporal variables. It also confirms how workplace accidents in Spain in 2021 and 2022 show similar behavior to the years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, observing previously identified patterns such as the Monday effect or the pause effect. Keywords: prevention, safety, occupational accident, COVID-19, time variables, severity.
