ABSTRACTManagement by competencies has been one of the most popular management philosophies in recent years, which has focused the attention of managers to keep the organization up to the demands of the environment. Managing organizational competencies is vital in current management systems; this does not escape Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) responsible for playing a decisive role in the production chain and marketing in the countries. The objective of this research is to develop a procedure for the determination of performance indicators associated with organizational competencies. Among the main results is the obtaining of a system of indicators for the evaluation of the performance of the organization associated with the competences contributing to the improvement of the same. Among the methods used are document review, direct observation, interview, surveys and the use of software such as SPSS and Expert Choice 9.
