ABSTRACT
In recent years, the logistics sector has witnessed the entry of different actors with new business models. Among these actors, there are mainly startups that, with technology-based solutions, are introducing great innovations in logistics. In this sense, this work focuses on the analysis and understanding of new business models based on innovation that are emerging and transforming the logistics sector by categorizing them through large groups. The categorization is made based on the review of the literature and the analysis of real cases of startups. Thus, five types of business model based on innovation and different specific areas of application are presented in each of them, which are illustrated by describing microcases of logistics startups. The results allow to identify different opportunities to create value by applying innovation and the main challenges faced by companies in the sector, as well as to identify the adoption of new technologies such as Internet of Things, Big Data and Cloud Computing, whose use is currently a growing trend in logistics.
