AVANCES EN LA SEGURIDAD PASIVA DE LOS VEHÍCULOS PARA LA PROTECCION DE PEATONES
RESUMEN El elevado número de atropellos que se producen en áreas urbanas e interurbanas españolas, unido a la gravedad de estos accidentes, hace que resulte de gran importancia el estudio de los mecanismos de generación de lesiones producidas, de manera que se puedan desarrollar geometrías de frontales de vehículos menos agresivas y sistemas de seguridad pasiva que igualmente ayuden a reducir los daños sobre los peatones. El presente artículo repasa las cifras actuales de atropellos y los mecanismos más habituales de generación de lesiones, así como los métodos de ensayo utilizados por los fabricantes de vehículos, y los sistemas que se están diseñando e incorporando en automóviles.
IMPROVEMENTS OF THE PASSIV SAFETY IN VEHICLES FOR THE PEDASTRIAN PRETECTION
ABSTRACT The high number of pedestrian accidents produced in the Spanish urban and rural zones, jointed together with their severity, increases the relevance of the injury mechanisms analysis for developing less aggressive frontal shapes of vehicles, and passive safety devices that could help to reduce the pedestrian injuries. This document shows figures of pedestrian accidents at the present time, and the most frequent injury mechanisms, as well as the testing methods used by vehicle manufacturers and the devices they are introducing in their automobiles.
